Each species page brings together what SeaLog knows about the animal, where and when divers tend to see it, and your own history with that species.
What youâll find
Illustration and photos: get a closer look at the species.
Name: its common name, scientific name, and rarity badge when applicable.
Category: such as fish, shark, ray, turtle, mammal, eel, cephalopod, macro, or crustacean.
Description: learn more about the species and what makes it unique.
Wishlist: tap the heart in the top-right corner to add or remove it from your species wishlist.
When divers see it: for some species, a month-by-month chart shows when sightings are recorded, with separate views by country.
Where to find it: explore diving regions associated with the species.
Show where I can find it: open a map of dive sites where divers have recorded sightings.
If youâve already spotted it
Once a species becomes part of your Seadex, its page also becomes part of your diving story.
Youâll see:
First seen: the month and year of your first recorded encounter
Seen on N dives: all the dives where youâve logged that species
First: marks the dive where your story with that species began
If you marked the species as seen without attaching it to a logged dive, it appears as Spotted outside a logged dive. You can tap Undo if you added it by mistake.
Still waiting for your first encounter?
If you havenât recorded the species yet, youâll see Not spotted yet.
You can unlock it by logging the species on one of your dives or tapping Iâve seen this.
And if youâre exploring when or where to find one, remember: sightings are patterns, not promises. Marine life moves, seasons change, and every encounter should happen on the animalâs terms.
