How do I create a species wishlist?

Got a few dream encounters on your diving bucket list? Add them to your Seadex wishlist and keep track of what you’re hoping to spot next. 🦈🤿

Add a species to your wishlist

  1. Open the Seadex tab.

  2. Find or search for the species you want.

  3. Open its species page and tap the heart in the top-right corner.

  4. The heart will also appear on its card in the Seadex grid.

  5. Use the Wishlist filter whenever you want to see only the species you’ve saved.

You can combine filters too. For example, select Wishlist + Sharks to see only the sharks still on your list.

Want to know where you might encounter one? From a species page, you can also explore the dive sites where that species has been recorded. See Where can I find a species?

One thing to keep in mind: your species wishlist and dive site wishlist are separate.

Dive responsibly

Your wishlist is there to inspire your next encounter not to turn wildlife into something to chase.

Always observe marine life respectfully, keep a safe distance, and never touch, feed, follow, surround, or disturb an animal just to get a sighting, photo, or video.

If you’re hoping to encounter a particular species, dive with experienced local professionals who know the animals, their behaviour, and their habitat. They can help you find them in a way that minimises stress and respects the local environment.

Remember that wildlife sightings are never guaranteed and sometimes the best choice is simply to let an animal swim away.

Save the ones you dream of seeing. Find them responsibly. Leave the ocean exactly as you found it.
